Acute Insomnia doesn’t last for many days as the worries are temporary and once they are gone the person tends to have regular sleeping hours, but, if untreated it can lead to chronic insomnia.

How to deal with it

  • Stick to a regular sleep schedule. Try going to bed and getting up at the same time every day, including weekends. Get up at your usual time in the morning even if you’re tired. This will help you get back in a regular sleep rhythm.
  • Try to wake up early in the morning and go for a morning walk and exercise; it will keep you refreshed the entire day ending with peaceful sleep.
  • Make sure your room is quiet, dark and comfortable, a lot of noise or uncomfortable surroundings can hamper your sleep.
  • Shut the phone at least an hour before bed. Instead of watching tv or surfing on your phone try to listen to some soothing music or read a book. This will help you go to bed on time, and you will wake up refreshed in the morning.
  • Take a Diet, which is high in magnesium and potassium like Avocado, yogurt, fibrous fruits, etc. and try to avoid heavy meals for dinner.
  • Think less and perform more. Instead of reiterating and getting nervous about how to deal with the tough situation, find out the solution, talk to someone if required, once you have nothing to worry about, you will be able to sleep like a baby.
